Mineral water traditions of Southern Europe come to Sweden

As we travel more and more, as we become increasingly aware of what is healthy, and as we eat and drink more and more while on the move, the sales of mineral water have increased more than ever before. Right now, carbonated mineral water is the preferred beverage, but within a few years, we will probably be buying even more non-carbonated bottled water. The sales of non-carbonated water dominate the market today in more southerly latitudes. 

 

Customs surrounding food and drink in transition

At present there are two contradictory trends. On the one hand, we live hectic lives and we eat and drink as we are on our way to different places, maybe to the gym or our job, etc. Eating breakfast at home, for example, is not the norm any longer. On the other hand, we are inspired by traditional cooking that takes patience and reflection and carefully chosen fresh foodstuffs and beverages. Mineral water suits both of these contradictory patterns of behaviour. On a handsome and well-laid dinner table, mineral water in a beautifully designed bottle has its rightful place. And even when we are on the move, we make sure that we always have a bottle of mineral water with us.

 

Water for different purposes

The reason mineral water has become so popular has to do with health trends and the fact that water has become an accessory we can take with us anywhere, that we can consume on our way throughout our day. When we choose a beverage, we choose very much according to the brand, the image, and the design of the bottle. We are going to drink straight out of this bottle and it must be attractive and stylish. Nowadays, most people love new trends. We are curious and are always alert to new experiences. Trying a new mineral water is an easy and risk-free way to push our own limits. And also, buying a bottle of mineral water is an economical investment in refreshment.

 

Water for different personalities

The trend is now heading toward personalized mineral waters. Tell me what mineral water you drink and I will tell you who you are. Today there is a mineral water for each individual personality. You can choose your favourite water based on different criteria such as bottle design, price, originality, taste, and so on. You can choose natural mineral water, spring water, flavoured, non-flavoured, carbonated, non-carbonated, etc. Each brand has its own status value and sends signals about who you are, where you live, what your income class is, or actually what income class you want to belong to, since water is a relatively inexpensive way to impress others!
